A ‘New York’ CSI Fights The Evidence In ‘Rest In Peace’
2 min readStella finds herself in danger when she refuses to give up on a case in “Rest in Peace, Marina Garito”. (Major spoilers after the jump!)
According to CSI Files sources, “Rest in Peace” finds Stella at odds with the evidence. The CSI is shocked when the body of Marina Garito turns up, the victim of an apparent suicide. The death seems like the final act of a desperate person, but Stella doesn’t buy it—this is murder.
Every Monday for the past three years, Marina has called Stella about her missing twin brother, Luke. Luke disappeared when they were eight years old. Their stepfather told police that he heard an ice cream truck and saw a grey van. Luke’s bike was on the porch, but he was nowhere to be found. In the 15 years since that day, Marina has never given up hope of finding out what happened to him.
Stella is adamant that Marina would not kill herself—not when the truth was still out there. Even if she knew that Luke must be dead after all this time, Marina was not willing to give up her search. Is Stella wrong, or could Marina have found a lead in her brother’s disappearance that made her a target?
When Stella returns to the scene of Marina’s death, she walks right into a dangerous situation. She sees the young pool attendant on the ground, bleeding from a wound to the head. He urges her to run, but it’s too late—she is attacked from behind, and the pair of them stumble over the railing and into the water. Stella struggles with her attacker as her gun drifts out of reach toward the bottom of the pool.
