La Rue Keeps It Green Around The House
2 min readCSI: Miami actress Eva La Rue (Natalia Boa Vista) recently moved into a new home, and she wasted no time making several environmentally-conscious changes.
One of the first things La Rue did was replace traditional light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs. “They last up to seven years so you’re not climbing ladders trying to change them all the time,” the actress told the MNN.com. She added that if everyone followed suit, the energy savings “would be the equivalent of taking 2 million cars off the road.”
“We have low-flow toilets [and] low-flow showerheads,” the actress added. Her eight year old daughter, Kaya, reminds La Rue and her fiancĂ© Joe Cappuccio to recycle. “She learned it in school,” La Rue said. “It’s great that they’re doing that. If they learn it at school, they listen more than if they hear it from their parents.”
La Rue is also careful about what she feeds her family. They eat only grass-fed meat and flaxseed-fed poultry. “You are what they eat—it’s a big, long food chain,” she said. The actress is especially concerned with the effects hormone-filled meat can have on her daughter’s body. “Girls are developing earlier and getting their periods earlier, which means a greater risk for breast and uterine cancer,” La Rue explained.
In Miami-related news, La Rue said her character’s hearing problems won’t be going away any time soon. Natalia started to lose her hearing after an explosion in “Count Me Out”, she visited a doctor in “Die By the Sword”, and she started wearing a hearing aid in “In the Wind”. “I’ll still be dealing with that through the end of the season,” La Rue revealed.
