Sinise: Who Knows Where The Character Will Go?
2 min readCSI: New York star Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor) is looking forward to whatever the series holds in store.
The experience of working on New York has been more than Sinise expected. “I didn’t necessarily know what to expect, but I knew we had a good chance because there were two successful shows in the franchise already, and CBS was very supportive of it,” the actor said. “Six seasons have blown by very quickly, and I’m really enjoying it and very grateful that I have it. It’s also very successful around the world.”
Even though the series is in its sixth season, Sinise still looks forward to new developments for his character. “That’s one of the upsides of being on a television series that’s doing well, that you get 20-some opportunities every year (given the number of episodes in a season) to do something different,” he explained. “Exploring the characters and what’s going on with them is something we’re always looking at.” Sinise added, “While we’re a procedural—driven by the ‘whodunit’—now that we’re in our sixth season, there’s a loyal audience that wants and appreciates more … I think I’ll be on it a little bit longer, and who knows where the character will go?”
Working on CSI: NY keeps Sinise busy, but he still makes time to travel with his Lt Dan Band and entertain the men and women of the US military. “I took the band over to Afghanistan at Thanksgiving to play three concerts for the troops, and we also had some good stuff for the troops and their families in December,” the actor shared. “We’re always playing, always trying to do something for them.”
