As TV Line revealed last month, Taye Diggs is playing Marine Gunnery Sergeant Aaron Davis in the milestone episode, “a Special Ops sniper who suffered traumatic injuries and PTSS after an ambush attack in Iraq.” Here’s a quote from Glasberg:
For our 300th episode we needed a guest actor who could proudly portray one of our nation’s wounded warriors as well as participate in a very touching musical performance. This emotionally charged role is tailor-made for Taye Diggs and we are so thrilled and honored to have him join us.
“The 300th is a really special episode for us,” Glasberg told TV Guide. “We ended up building this very patriotic, very emotional story line. … It’s certainly going to tug at people’s heartstrings, that’s for sure.”
Glasberg also spoke to TV Line about “Scope”, including this quote:
Everybody gets a piece of the pie, and there are some fun, unexpected, juicy tidbits that will be in there. We tried to make the 300th as entertaining as possible, and there are a couple of things here and there that will be seeding us toward the end of the season as well.
Tonight’s episode will feature the MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band. Here’s an article from CNN, including this quote from episode co-writer Gina Lucita Monreal:
The day that we had the guys from MusiCorps here shooting with us was such a magical and electric experience on set. When the guys finished the scene where they were playing music together, the entire cast and crew just erupted into applause.
Perrette did an interview with Zap2It, and here’s an excerpt:
Zap2it: With Taye Diggs as the main guest star, the 300th episode deals with the Musicorps music-therapy program used in treating patients at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Do you feel it works as a regular ‘NCIS’ story as well as the series milestone that it is?
I think people are really going to love it. Reading the last scene of the script, I thought it was very touching. It really is very meaningful; we talk a lot about issues within the military and with veterans, things that matter. And we have the lovely and humble and sweet Taye Diggs with us.
When Abby is assisting with Musicorps, it’s so easy and so fulfilling for me to play. I completely relate. It’s the best thing in the world to give back — nothing feels better.
