Zuiker: We’ve Pulled Out All The Stops

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation creator Anthony Zuiker wrote the series finale for the hit crime drama, a two-hour TV movie titled “Immortality”. “I was all over the place,” he told Channel Guide Magazine. “I was laughing out loud. I was crying every day. Not necessarily crying because it was over, but just touched, kind of touched by the characters and touched by the moments and hearing the voices again.”

The finale finds the team working together to solve an explosive case at the Eclipse, a casino co-owned by former CSI Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger). The investigation brings back Catherine, as well as former boss Gil Grissom (William Petersen). “It’s really cool,” Zuiker said. “It’s cool to have them back. It’s really neat to reconnect with them.”

Zuiker also spoke to TV Insider about the end of CSI’s fifteen year run. He acknowledged that the finale couldn’t please every single fan, but he was confident that it would provide the “emotional experience” that most viewers were looking for:

It’s a privilege to be able to bring real closure to this show—something that rarely happens when a program gets canceled. Our finale is scary and thrilling and entertaining as hell, but it’s also a chance to thank the fans for their undying devotion. We want them to feel good about what happens to this family of CSI characters when the show is over. To do that, we’ve pulled out all the stops.
