Take A Peek At Tonight’s ‘NCIS’ & ‘NCIS:NOLA’

7 min read

NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans are airing new episodes tonight from 8:00-10:01pm ET/PT. You can find sneak peeks, quotes, interviews, photos and tweets after the jump!

Here’s the first of two sneak peeks from the NCIS episode “Cabin Fever”, featuring Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham), Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) and Russian Counselor Anton Pavlenko (Lev Gorn). (You can also find it on CBS.com, CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

And here’s the second clip, which features Vance, Gibbs and Senior FBI Agent TC Fornell (Joe Spano). (It can also be found on CBS.com, CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

Check out this question from TV Line about tonight’s episode:

Question: After the episode where Gibbs’ and Fornell’s ex-wife was shot, will NCIS address what happens to her child with Fornell? —Joy

Ausiello: As a matter of fact, the Feb. 17 episode, titled “Cabin Fever,” will deal with many of the reverberations of Diane’s tragic death — as felt by the men in her life as well as daughter Emily. “There are some really brilliant moments between Mark Harmon and Joe Spano, as they spend some time in Gibbs’ cabin and hash out some of the issues they’re both facing because of that loss,” showrunner Gary Glasberg previews. “And Emily makes an appearance too — it’s all part of what Fornell is carrying right now. He’s having trouble, and Gibbs is there as a friend.”

Here’s the excerpt about “Cabin Fever” from TV Line’s February sweeps article posted earlier this month:

As the manhunt for Season 12 baddie Sergei Mishnev comes to a head, Gibbs and Fornell will “spend some time in Gibbs’ cabin in the woods and really hash through some of the grief and the issues they’re both facing” in the wake of Diane’s murder, Glasberg says. The result is “some really beautiful performances between [Mark] Harmon and Joe Spano. Those guys worked really hard on that episode.”

And here’s the part about “Cabin Fever” from the Fox News sweeps article:

The wheels are turning in Gibbs’ mind and ideas are percolating below the surface for the first two weeks in February as Gibbs decides what action to take to get justice for Diane. Then in this episode, the Michnev story comes to a head — there is a resolution — and Gibbs finally lets down his guard — he’s been stoic up to now to help out Fornell (Joe Spano) — and we see him react to Diane’s death.

“There are some really brilliant moments between Harmon and Joe Spano’s Fornell,” Glasberg says. “It’s them working through the loss and grief.”

Glasberg talked about various episodes and storylines in a Hollywood Reporter interview earlier this month. Regarding Diane’s murder, “Gibbs has been and will continue to be really tortured over how it unfolded,” Glasberg revealed. He added that “Cabin Fever” is “a very intense, terrific episode.”

Here’s another quote from Glasberg, this time from a TV Guide article posted several days ago:

At the end of the day, Gibbs feels a certain responsibility for what happened. Whether that’s accurate or not, he’s carrying that around with him, and Fornell is carrying that around with him. … There are really some brilliant moments between Gibbs and Fornell. I couldn’t be happier with the performances that they gave. It’s a touching, really strong episode.

Here’s the first of three scenes from the NCIS: NOLA episode “Le Carnivale de la Mort”, featuring Christopher LaSalle (Lucas Black), Meredith Brody (Zoe McLellan), Dr Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder) and Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula). (You can also watch it on CBS.com, CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

This second clip features LaSalle, Brody, and Pride. (It’s also available on CBS.com, CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

Check out the third and final sneak peek below, from Yahoo TV, which features Pride, LaSalle and Brody. (You can also find it on CBS Press Express and SpoilerTV.)

Yahoo TV also shared an infographic, which offers fans a glimpse of the work that went into re-creating Mardi Gras for the episode—including 800 parade extras, 50 band members from Tulane University, and 50,000 props.

Here’s a question from TV Line about tonight’s episode, which was shared at the end of January:

On NCIS: New Orleans, will we see Pride’s father before the end of the season? Who would be a good fit to play him? –Chris

In the time since you sent this email, Pride’s father was cast, with the venerable Stacy Keach (Prison Break), who makes his debut on the freshman drama’s Fat Tuesday episode airing… well, on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 17. “Pride’s dad is in jail, and he’s been there for a while, and that will work into an arc that continues through the season,” says show boss Gary Glasberg. “We’re excited about what Mr. Keach brought to the show. It’s a fun part, so we’re sort of letting him take it and run with it.”

Glasberg spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about “Le Carnivale de la Mort”, and here’s an excerpt:

Because of the influx of tourists and visitors that come through that weekend — it’s literally millions of people — a lot of the police presence and security presence in the city of New Orleans is very heightened. That’s all very accurate and very real. So there’s a big heist, robbery story that we’ve put together.

It’s just a really energized, fun, unique romp that showcases the city in ways that I don’t think people will have seen before. We’ve sort of pulled out all the stops.

Next, take a look at this interview from TV Fanatic, featuring quotes from Glasberg and Bakula. Here’s a question and answer about the introduction of Keach as Cassius Pride:

TVF: Would you say that meeting Pride’s father is going to give us even more insight into who Pride is like you’ve done on NCIS with Mark Harmon’s father and even with Michael Weatherly?

GG: Absolutely, and [Pride’s] father will play key parts moving forward into the back nine as we continue into the sort of arc that we’ve set up with this warring family that Pride has come in contact with that we shot a couple of weeks ago and that storyline and his dad who’s in prison will inform that story. We’ll probably see Steven Weber again and it’s fun to set up these characters in ways that they become as important, as we’ve done on NCIS, they become as important as the case. It’s all arcing out nicely.

Executive Producer Jeffrey Lieber spoke to NOLA.com about “Le Carnivale de la Mort”. Once the writers knew there would be an episode airing on Fat Tuesday, they knew what the theme would be:

That became a must-do. We’re trying very hard with this episode to get it as right as we legally can, within all the sort of craziness that’s out there. We’re hoping to get both the obvious side of it, which is a big party, but also that there’s a history to this thing.

So we’re trying to capture both the modern history of Mardi Gras, which has this Las Vegas-esque quality to it, and then some historical reference to work from.

The Dragons of New Orleans are featured in tonight’s episode, and you can find a photoset from filming on Facebook here. Check out a few of the images below:
