‘CSI’ Gets Dolled Up In ‘Rubbery Homicide’

The CSIs are on the case when a life-sized rubber doll is found near a dead body, in the eighth episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’s fifteenth season. (Major spoilers after the jump!)

According to CSI Files sources, “Rubbery Homicide” finds the team investigating a crime scene in an alley, where a man is lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He’s wearing nothing but boxer shorts, and he was stabbed eight times: three times in the neck, and five in the back. There should be more blood on the man’s body, but the killer must have taken his clothes. There’s a tube of lipstick nearby with blood on it, suggesting there was a woman at the scene.

Sara spots a strange mark on the ground nearby. It’s the shape of a human face, left in blood. There’s no blood on the victim’s face, so he didn’t make the mark when he fell to the ground. If he struggled with his attacker and pressed their face against the concrete, this impression might help lead the team to their killer. Unfortunately, when Finn puts the image into a computer and tries to extrapolate a face to run through facial recognition software, she doesn’t find much—the program tells her there’s insufficient data to get a match. Finn notices that the face impression is strange, more flat than a real face would be. Perhaps the killer was wearing a mask.

Fingerprints identify the victim as Nelson Kern, and Nick and Officer Mitchell track his cellphone to a dumpster at the other end of the alley. They look inside and find a purse; added to the lipstick evidence, this could suggest they are looking for a female killer. Officer Mitchell notices something else in the dumpster: a bloody human shoulder. When Nick digs out the rest of the body, however, he doesn’t discover another victim; instead, he finds a life-sized silicone doll in the shape of a woman, wearing a sexy dress. A closer look reveals that the doll is actually a costume. The costume is covered with blood, and there are stab marks consistent with Nelson’s wounds—he was wearing this when he was killed.
