‘CSI’ Attends A Killer Conference In ‘Girls Gone Wilder’
2 min readA shooter opens fire at a forensic conference, endangering the lives of three CSIs, in the fifth episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’s fifteenth season. (Major spoilers after the jump!)
According to CSI Files sources, “Girls Gone Wilder” opens by a hotel pool, where Sara, Morgan and Finn are lounging and relaxing. There’s a forensic conference later that day, but for now they have time to enjoy themselves. The party is in full swing around them, despite the fact that it’s only nine in the morning. They sip mimosas while enjoying a spa treatment, talking about their plans for the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, Greg and David Phillips are having a lot less fun back in the morgue. A real estate agent came across a metal drum while showing an abandoned construction site, and he took one look inside before calling the police. There’s a body inside, but it has been dissolved somehow—the killer didn’t want them to be able to identify the victim. Greg takes a sample of the viscous liquid for Hodges to test, and they dump the contents of the drum over a sifter to get whichever large pieces are left.
The killer tried to destroy the body using hydrochloric acid, but decomposition weakened the strength of the acid, leaving the bones intact. Hodges is able to get a DNA match using the marrow from the victim’s femur: it’s Paul Carson, a security guard who worked at the Mediterranean hotel. He’s been missing for three days, but his key card was scanned at the hotel just a few hours ago. The killer could be at the Mediterranean right now—which is where the forensic conference is taking place.
Finn, Morgan and Sara look around the booths set up at the Western Regional Forensic Conference, spotting familiar faces in the crowd. Finn heads off with an old acquaintance, while Sara and Morgan move into a packed conference room to watch a presentation being given by one of Sara’s former colleagues from San Francisco. The presentation is theatrical, featuring strobe lights and sexy men in lab coats. Sara thinks it’s ridiculous, but Morgan seems entertained. However, things take a tragic turn when gunfire breaks out, bullets flying as the people in the room panic. The shooter is standing by the side door, expression furious, while Sara and Morgan duck down as bullets tear through the seats in front of them.
