Producer Alec Smight directed the episode, which marks his thirty-eighth credit for CSI; he previously helmed “Killer Moves” earlier this year. “Dead in His Tracks” was penned by Executive Producer Andrew Dettman; his six previous writing credits include this season’s “Love for Sale”.

Marc Vann is back as Conrad Ecklie, and Lary Sullivan reprises his recurring role as Officer Akers. Teal Redmann returns as Brass’s daughter Ellie, who was last seen in the season fourteen premiere, “The Devil and DB Russell”. IMDb lists Derek Magyar in the cast for last season’s finale, “Skin in the Game”. Assaf Cohen has credits for CSI (“Under a Cloud”) and CSI: Miami (“Dishonor”). Zeus Mendoza previously appeared in the Miami episode “Shock” during the show’s fourth season, Kiko Ellsworth guest-starred in season four’s “Dead Air”, and Grainger Hines was in “Three-Way” and “Felony Flight” during season four. The other actors are new to the franchise.
