Miller, Togo & Buckley Discuss Trip To Israel

2 min read

A recent tour of Israel served as a life-changing experience for several CSI franchise stars.

As CSI Files previously reported, CSI: New York’s Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer) and AJ Buckley (Adam Ross), along with CSI: Miami actors Jonathan Togo (Ryan Wolfe) and Omar Miller (Walter Simmons), spent a week in the Holy Land as guests of the Tourism Ministry. “Israel is a real jewel,” Miller told the Huffington Post. “I felt so accepted and I’d love to bring my mom here someday.”

The trip had family significance for Togo, who is Jewish. “I’ve always wanted to visit Israel. As an American Jew in Hebrew School, culturally you feel that Israel is your homeland even if you don’t necessarily celebrate the holidays,” Togo said. He later added, “To be in a place where almost everyone is Jewish is mind-blowing to me. It just makes me appreciate my Jewish identity even more.”

Buckley may not be Jewish, but he appreciates that family is the “center of life” in Israel. “I grew up in a home where we would tell stories around the dinner table all the time. It’s where my identity developed, just listening to my mom and dad talk,” Buckley explained. He discovered a similar phenomenon while touring the Holy Land. “There is this national, collective story that parents pass to their children which really gives people their sense of identity here.”
