Reiter: It’s Hard To Commit
2 min readOn the bubble for renewal for the second year in a row, CSI: New York‘s executive producers have no choice but to write a finale that works as both a season and series finale. Executive Producers Pam Veasey and Zachary Reiter provide insight to CSI Files as to what might happen.
CSI: NY narrowly escaped cancellation last year after receiving an eleventh hour reprieve. The series was renewed shortly before CBS announced its 2011-2012 lineup at May’s upfront presentation when the network shared what shows to expect in the fall. With only eighteen episodes this season, producers are deciding yet again how to write a season finale that could also serve as a final episode.
The biggest challenge for the show is finding a way to top last year’s finale, “Exit Strategy.” Producers received positive feedback from both the show’s crew and fans, noting the episode–which found Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) contemplating a huge change in his life–was satisfying as both an end of the season closer and a series finale. Now, with less than a month to go until production on the season–and potentially series–wraps, writers are figuring out what to do–including possibly bringing back past characters.
“It’s hard to commit to those things not knowing the future of the show,” co-showrunner Zachary Reiter tells CSI Files’ Shane Saunders. “We have to sit down; we have yet to sort of create that last possible last show/possible cliff-hanger/possible last show before next season thing,” Pam Veasey shares. “We’ll see. We’ll consider everything.”
Discussing past storylines, Veasey marveled at the possibility of bringing Jacqueline Pinol back as Rikki Sandoval. “Anybody can come back.”
Ok going for the obvious here but who cares since my 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last choice and just about everybody else’s for that matter would be our Stella riding off into the sunset with a certain lab boss. However if miracles can occur I wouldn’t say no to Jess Angell either both of them and that would be what I call perfection. Come on it’s not impossible I don’t remember it myself but everyone’s heard of St Elsewhere’s snowglobe and Dallas’ shower scene haven’t they? All it would take would be a little imagination how about Mac waking up from a good nights sleep and telling Missus T what a weird dream he had “Stella honey you wont believe what a dream I had last night….” If it’s good enough for Shakespeare (A Midsummer night’s dream) it’s good enough for CSI:NY.
I really hope CSI:NY will be renewed again! I feel sick to my stomach each day not knowing, and hoping it won’t be the last season. It bothers me when people say it’s just a show, but they don’t really understand. It’s like having a special relationship with somebody over 8 years and hoping it won’t die. Although I like all the CSI shows, NY has long been my personal favorite.
I really hope it comes back! I will be really really sad if this is the end. I hope they can get Melina Kanakaredes to come back at least once before the end.
I would do anything for a autographed picture from the cast.
………………….. *crickets* 🙂
Bring back anyone but that welfare queen slut Rikki!!!! She can seduce her next male neighbor or pack on the skank pounds with her dumb bowl of sugar for all I care!! Just leave my D/L alone!
I’d rather they get rid of the joke that is CSI: Miami, with all the Ryan flirting with the revolving door of lab rats and the Hispanic characters going mentally loco at suspects, new lab rats, co-workers, etc. It’s no wonder Marg, Dourdan, Eads, Fox, and Petersen are highly critical of the sister shows apart from their Vegas show. Vegas rocks! New York also kicks it, but Miami is just as bad as the n-word!!!!!
I really hope they renew it. If it has to be a final season renew, fine, but dont cancel it. Like the 1st comment said, I love this show and would be so upset if they cancelled it.
