‘CSI’ Is A Tough But Rewarding Job For Eads
2 min readIt’s hard work playing a forensic investigator on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, but George Eads (Nick Stokes) loves starring on a series with worldwide appeal.
CSI shoots 22-24 episodes per season, and the schedule can take a toll on the actors. When Eads watches a show with a shorter season, he can see the difference. “I look at them on screen and they seem so much fresher,” the actor told JOE. “Sometimes I see my character and I look so haggard. To fit everything in we have long days that start early and a lot of travelling around because we do a lot of scenes out on location.”
“It’s worth it, but you’ve got to learn to hump yourself around without complaining and enjoy yourself, because it can be pretty tough,” Eads explained. He added, “You can be in East LA filming at 7am the one day, then the next day you’re up in the mountains at dawn. You just have to go where they need you to go.”
Despite the schedule, Eads enjoys his work. “It’s cool, it’s fun, and I get the reward of a stretch of time off in the summer,” he shared. One of the benefits of being on an international hit like CSI is that people recognize him around the world. “It’s amazing the reach of the show, and the fact that we’re being seen in so many places and dubbed into so many languages,” the actor said. “Once, I was in Spain out in the middle of the brush when these two old local ladies walked past me, pointed at me and just said CSI loudly then carried on. That’s the sort of thing that happens.”
