Helgenberger: I’m Ready For A New Chapter

2 min read

Marg Helgenberger (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’s Catherine Willows) discussed her desire to leave the series during CBS Studios’ international press junket on Saturday.

As CSI Files previously reported, Helgenberger is currently planning to exit CSI after season 11, although it is possible she could return in some capacity next season. “It’s not that I feel disappointed or don’t like the show anymore, or am in any way unhappy,” Helgenberger said (as reported by the Vancouver Sun). “It’s really just more about me, as an actor and as a person, realizing it’s time to kind of switch it off and see what else is out there.”

“I’m ready for a new chapter,” she continued. After working on the series for more than a decade, moving on won’t be easy. “The hardest part, of course, will be saying goodbye to everyone I’ve worked with all these years, because we’re really a family.”

Helgenberger hesitated to say her time with CSI has taken a toll on her “because if I were an actor and I heard me complaining, I’d slap me,” she said with a laugh. “You know what I mean? Because so many actors would like to be in my shoes, to have had been on a hit TV show for 11 seasons.” Ultimately, she added, “I’m just glad that the show has such an impact, and has had such an impact, that we’re still in the Top 10, and we still get along, and the show is still of great quality.”
