‘Miami’ Mourns The Loss Of A ‘Fallen’ CSI

CSI: Miami deals with the aftermath of season eight’s cliffhanger finale in “Fallen”—they all fell down, but one member of the team will not stand back up. (Major season premiere spoilers after the jump!)

According to CSI Files sources, “Fallen” picks up where “All Fall Down” left off. The halls of the Miami-Dade Crime Lab are filled with unconscious bodies. Horatio and Frank are rushing back to the lab, but they get into a car accident with an SUV. The SUV’s driver seems to be okay, but Frank stays with her and waits for the ambulance to arrive. Horatio can’t stay with them—he needs to get back to the lab. He shows his badge to a nearby driver and takes the man’s car.

When Horatio arrives at the lab, he finds the bodies scattered in the hallways. He starts to cough, and he realizes that whatever took down his people is still in the air. Grabbing his gun, he shoots out the closest windows. The tainted air escapes while fresh air spills into the lab.

Horatio is too late to save every member of his team. The CSIs are left to mourn one of their own when they discover that Jesse Cardoza is dead. He was Bob Starling’s final victim—or was he? The CSIs realize that Starling must have put other deadly plans into motion before he was arrested. They look for clues on the note Horatio and Frank found when they arrested Starling—they find some sort of symbols written with invisible ink on the page, but they’ll have to decipher what the symbols mean if they want to prevent another tragedy.

Meanwhile, the team must work through the pain of losing a friend and coworker. Walter takes Jesse’s death especially hard and goes to the morgue to say goodbye. He spoke to Jesse’s mother, and they’re going to send his body back to California so his parents can bury him. As he stands with the body, Walter notices something. Jesse was found with blood on his face, and there is a piece of glass in the cut on his forehead. Walter retrieves the glass carefully. He isn’t sure what Jesse was working on when he died, but he knows that this piece of information must be important.
