Petersen Joins The Cast Of ‘Detachment’

1 min read

Former CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star William Petersen (Gil Grissom) has taken on his first movie role since leaving the crime drama by joining the cast of Tony Kaye‘s independent film Detachment.

The drama is set in a high school and centers around a substitute teacher played by Adrien Brody. Brody’s character becomes invested in the faculty and students at the school, and he grows close to a homeless teenager working as a prostitute. Petersen plays a history teacher who is also a Vietnam veteran. The character shows a gay film in his class in an attempt to teach tolerance, but it lands him in trouble.

The film also stars Lucy Liu as a school psychologist, and Christina Hendricks will play a teacher (and potential love interest) who encourages Brody’s character to become a full time educator. Bryan Cranston, James Caan and Marcia Gay Harden are also in the cast for Detachment, which recently began filming in New York. It is produced by Bingo Gubelmann, Austin Stark, Benji Kohn and Greg Shapiro.
