Kanakaredes Will Get A ‘Noble Exit’ From ‘New York’
1 min readAs CSI Files previously reported, Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera) will not return to CSI: New York for season seven. Details of the character’s “noble” exit from the series have now been revealed. Spoilers after the jump!
She may not be working with Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) in the New York Crime Lab any more, but Stella won’t be leaving in a body bag. “We’re giving her a noble exit,” co-executive producer Zachary Reiter told Entertainment Weekly. “We chose not to go the route of killing her off or having her go missing. We felt that would weigh too heavily on the team.”
Instead, Stella will take a new job in New Orleans. When season seven gets underway, several months have passed since the season six finale, and she has already moved to her new home. “She left to run a lab there,” explained executive producer Pam Veasey. “And she picked that city because it’s the city of Katrina, the city of BP oil, the city where people are looking for someone to lend a hand.” Veasey added, “She’ll essentially be Mac in New Orleans. We wanted to do something that was respectful and made a lot of sense.”
