Helgenberger: The Season Will Start With A Bang
2 min readWhile at the Roma Fiction Fest in Italy earlier this month, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation‘s leading lady Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) spoke a bit about season eleven and whether she’d like to try a completely different role. (Minor spoilers after the jump!)
The actress remained tight-lipped about what’s coming up in CSI‘s eleventh season. “I still can not tell you anything, but I can say that next season there will be guest stars that the viewers will find very interesting,” Helgenberger told Movieplayer (translated by fan site Margamania). “There is also a comeback in the production team: Anthony E Zuiker, the creator of the original show is back as a writer. I was very happy with the news because I think he has a very particular mind, so I think the season will start with a big bang!”
Helgenberger revealed that there are a few developments on the horizon for Catherine. “There will be no drastic changes, but there will be a positive evolution of the character,” she explained. “Catherine, in addition to being an expert in science, is the daughter of the owner of a casino, and her father [Sam Braun, Scott Wilson], who died, will return in flashbacks. I would say that there is a return to the roots, the origins of my character.”
There are a lot of crime shows on television, and Helgenberger has been playing the same role for a decade. The actress said she would like to play more diverse roles in the future, but she’s sticking with CSI for now. “Sure, but I think that the trends are also linked to the moment we’re living: criminal, medical and legal shows are successful now,” Helgenberger said. “Maybe, when CSI reaches the finish line, it’ll be the right time to change!”
