‘Criminal Minds’ Promotes Brewster To Series Regular

CSI Files reported last month that former Criminal Minds star Paget Brewster would reprise her role as Emily Prentiss on a recurring basis during the show’s upcoming twelfth season. Today, the network announced that Brewster has been upgraded to a series regular, remaining on the show full-time following her first appearance in the episode scheduled to air on October 12. Here’s a statement from Executive Producer Erica Messer, courtesy of Deadline:

We’re all so excited to have Paget with us full time. The BAU family has definitely missed her, on screen and off. Having her back on set has been great, it’s like she never left.

Brewster’s promotion comes on the heels of Thomas Gibson’s (Aaron Hotchner) dismissal following an on-set altercation. As CSI Files previously reported, the network announced they’d be adding two series regulars in Gibson’s place, including a new team leader. There’s no word yet on whether Brewster will fill one of those spots, or if they are in addition to her full-time return to the team. Season 12 will also feature the introduction of Adam Rodriguez (Luke Alvez) as a series regular, and the promotion of Aisha Tyler (Dr Tara Lewis) to series regular.
