‘NCIS’ & ‘NCIS:NOLA’ Ratings, Links & Finale Promos Are Available
11 min readNCIS and NCIS: New Orleans aired new episodes last night, and you can find ratings, links to watch the episodes, and promos for next week’s season finales below—along with quotes and 90+ tweets and photos!
The twenty-third episode of NCIS’s thirteenth season, “Dead Letter”, pulled in 15.66 million viewers at 8:00pm, earning a 2.0 rating/8 share in the key 18-49 demographic prized by advertisers (raised to 16.04 million and 2.1/8 when the final ratings were counted). If you missed the episode, or would like to watch it again, it’s available on CBS.com, XFinity TV or Global TV.
As CSI Files previously reported, the season thirteen finale airs next Tuesday. Here’s the promo for “Family First” (from SpoilerTV):
CBS posted this short video featuring Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo):
.@m_weatherly has a special message for #NCIS fanshttps://t.co/gmQsAzBe0I
— NCIS (@NCIS_CBS) May 11, 2016
Weatherly also did a conference call this morning with various news sites. Here’s a quote from Zap2It about next week’s finale:
I think [executive producer Gary Glasberg] and CBS and everyone has really put together a powder keg. Everyone’s saying ‘going out with a bang,’ powder keg, explosions, fire …It’s definitely ‘Mission: Impossible.’ The fuse has been lit, and I think you’re going to be very surprised by a lot of what unfolds next week.
There’s one moment from the finale that fans will find particularly surprising. As Weatherly said, quoted by TV Guide:
I discovered an aspect of DiNozzo that had never been revealed before, and it truly surprised me. In that scene, I didn’t recognize any Michael Weatherly at all, and very little Tony DiNozzo. It was more like DiNozzo to give Gibbs mouth-to-mouth resuscitation than this thing that he does in the last episode.
Weatherly revealed that he let the writers come up with the details of his send-off. According to TVLine:
I’m a big believer that there are things you can control and things you cannot control, so that was outside of the sphere of control as far as I was concerned. I’ve really enjoyed the whole ride on NCIS and all the different styles that the show has taken on over time, and I wanted to leave it up to that creative team to do what they wanted to do.

Those were the same drugs Gibbs was given in Hiatus btw. Why reinvent the wheel?
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
So many balls in the air. So hard to figure out how to end that teaser. I decided to just end on "Gibbs is really really REALLY mad"
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@stevebinder Hard to believe this revelation isn't breaking the Internet. Because it never ceases to amuse me.
— Christopher J. Waild (@ChrisWaild) May 11, 2016
Emily Fornell…we lost her mother but at least we have her.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
And introducing…Tess!
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@N10McIntyre Everything about this 1 was hard but yes, that was another "weight" on my fingers as I typed for sure. U want it to be good.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@MissKatie221 Did they ever lose it?
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
So I wanted to do something "special" for Tess in every scene. Going behind Gibbs back to interview someone. Not smart.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
I had so little time, tried to make every element of the story resonate in some way with each scene. Hence Fornell "leaks" into Abby scene.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
This bit was inspired by the jet fuel soot on my front lawn from the tiny airport by my house (that didn't have jets when I moved in)
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Joe Spano is so awesome to work with, even more awesome to right for. He nails it every time. I sure as hell hope he doesn't die.

Some very fine fight choreography by our crack team.

Ladies and gentleman, meet Clayton Reeves. MI6.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
I was pretty excited to be introducing a new character. Doubly excited introducing two.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@Jomie1986 thank you! but it's a team effort across the board.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
We did a little too much blood on Kort's face for the first take of this scene. But toned it done in case anyone was still eating dinner.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Tess and McGee, wish I had more time for scenes like this. Getting to know the new characters. Having 2 AND Kort, made that a non-starter.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
A pretty rough stunt. The person who really got hurt, however, was me. I was sitting in front of one of those garages when it went up.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Very good chemistry between Mark and @RealDuaneHenry here. A great place to start off from.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
It's always tough to make the interrogation room interesting. Very glad to have support from these two.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
So I did ten rolfing sessions about 15 years ago. Highly recommend it. You gotta kinda be a masochist though.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Ziva
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@Suejacken there is a definite feedback loop – not necessarily their real traits, but what they bring to the character
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@PatPeoples1 MW was supposed to be back from shooting Bull, but in case late, I didn't do too much. Plus didn't want to steal thunder…
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@PatPeoples1 from the last episode…
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@Bnkr_Chk2 @PatPeoples1 We all want more. And it will never be enough. 🙁
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
I wanted to soften Kort a little bit in this scene. He is a dick…but then, feels bad. Sorta.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
If I had more story time, I would have opened the next five scenes with everyone going "Looking for Ziva?"
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Autopsy is another example of trying to "double" up every scene with two themes #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
In this case, I "tripled" up the autopsy scene. Jacob. Tess/Gibbs. Then Tony comes in.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
It also was difficult to cut away to the hospital in an episode like this. We don't usually do cut-aways. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Mark Harmon gave me the (very funny) note that Fornell's feet should be gross. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
The make-up on Fornell was so good. Maybe even too good. He really looked dead. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Anybody have a smart TV? They're listening. To everything. Muhahahah #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Putting Kort in with Abby was interesting to me. Not sure I did everything I could with it. Again, a victim of the dense plot. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
I wanted to try and tie in the Emily/Fornell subplot with the main story. Not just have it be an aside. Hence this moment… #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
.@stevebinder thanks dude! honestly man, you give me such great stuff. Always eager to get my hands on a Binder script!
— Brian Dietzen (@BrianDietzen) May 11, 2016
I would have liked to have Tess in there talking to Jacob. But felt it should be Gibbs. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
I just loved listening to Vince Nappo speak. He really nailed Jacob Scott.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
This episode need to involve Ziva…but how to make it happen? Simple. Add some magic Eli David dust. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Jacob turned himself in because …he knew Gibbs wouldn't let this get pushed under the rug. That he'd find the truth. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Fingerprint stuff was great. @AveDog51 worked hard to make sure it was just right. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Another thing I wanted to do – a proper intro scene between Tess and Clayton. There just wasn't time. But at least got them together. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Weird to write a continuing episode. I'm usually wrapping things up by now. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
I didn't realize that Jacob should have a moment until after I wrote the script. Then went back. He needed to have the cuffs off. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
Why do they always watch ZNN? Isn't ZSNBC or ZOX ever on? #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@haleybrasilll we can only hope. #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@loveabundantly I don't think "always" – but early on that became the plan. @ChrisWaild – can you share on this? #NCIS
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@vegasdude83 @serenagarde NCIS thought Jacob Scott was selling secrets. But it was Kort. Case closed.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
@Chrissyma he just fake-tapped kinda close. from the right angle you can't tell. then we added the sound effect.
— Steven D. Binder (@stevebinder) May 11, 2016
