Helgenberger Talks ‘CSI’ Finale, Plus Tweets & Pics
3 min readAs CSI Files previously reported, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will end with a two-hour TV movie that will air on Sunday, September 27. Original stars Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) and William Petersen (Gil Grissom) are both confirmed to be returning for the series finale. Helgenberger spoke to Entertainment Tonight earlier this week, and you can watch the brief interview below:
You can find a quote from series creator Anthony Zuiker after the jump, along with some tweets and photos relating to the show’s cancellation and the series finale.
Zuiker recently spoke at the Seoul Digital Forum. Here’s a quote about CSI and what made the show popular when it debuted back in 2000:
I think before CSI, a lot of police procedural shows pretty much dealt with what I called ‘above the tape,’ which is, it was more about the crime and the suspects. CSI was the first show that kind of ‘goes below the tape,’ which really doubts the forensic science part of it all.
So between our fresh new format, between the backdrop of Las Vegas and between taking the forensic front of view, it was just very fresh for American television.
Finally, take a look at these tweets from Zuiker about the finale (including questions for fans), along with some photos from former Consulting Producer Dustin Lee Abraham that were posted after the announcement last week:
I had lunch with William Petersen yesterday to discuss the 2-hour finale. He's in a great place and is very excited. pic.twitter.com/jFtcvklrPp

Nick Stokes was created by the word "stoked" back in '99. What's the ideal way he should leave CSI story wise? pic.twitter.com/kzzMQKTzUG
