Lauren Lee Smith Joins ‘The Strain,’ Former ‘CSI’ Writers To Produce

Former CSI: Crime Scene Investigation actress Lauren Lee Smith (Riley Adams) has joined the cast of FX’s new series The Strain, Deadline reports. Smith departed CSI after her one-year run during Season Nine. In The Strain she’ll play Kelly Goodweather, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather’s (Corey Stoll) ex-wife. After winning a difficult custody battle she embarks on a new life with her boyfriend, but when she fails to heed her husband’s warning about the contagion spreading in Manhattan, she pays the ultimate price. The project reunites Smith with former CSI co-executive producers David Weddle and Bradley Thompson, who left after Season Eleven.
