The flagship series will be pre-empted this week, but the Big Apple-based spinoff offers the second part of Rob Morrow’s guest arc as serial arsonist Leonard Brooks. Official plot details and cast list can be found after the jump.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is not on the schedule this Wednesday. Instead, the network will air CBS News: The First Presidential Debate from 9:00-11:00pm ET.

On Friday, CSI: New York turns up the heat with “Where There’s Smoke…” at 8:00pm ET/PT:

The CSIs rush to stop serial arsonist Leonard Brooks after he begins using fire against people from his dark past.

Skipp Sudduth has four directing credits for CSI: NY, including last season’s “Officer Involved”. The episode was written by Supervising Producer Adam Targum and Sarah Byrd. Targum penned six previous episodes, most recently “Clean Sweep” from season eight; Byrd wrote “Sláinte” last season.

The following guest stars will appear in the episode:

  • Natalie Martinez as Det. Jamie Lovato
  • Rob Morrow as Leonard Brooks
  • Victoria Hoffman as Rita Lowman
  • Laura Parker as Young Jennifer Brooks
  • Cara Pifko as Rachel Moore
  • David Bloom as Young Leonard
  • Brace Harris as Uni
  • Napoleon Tavale as ESU

Newcomer Natalie Martinez makes her first appearance as Detective Jamie Lovato. Rob Morrow is back as Leonard Brooks, the convicted arsonist he played in last week’s season premiere, “Reignited”. Cara Pifko guest-starred in the CSI: Miami episode “Come As You Are” during the show’s fifth season.

“Where There’s Smoke…” airs October 5 on CBS.
