‘CSI:NY’ Tells Story With ‘Looks & Unspoken Communication’

2 min read

As CSI Files previously reported, tonight’s episode of CSI: New York features new songs from Green Day. ¡UNO! is already out, but ¡DOS! (November 13) and ¡TRÉ! (January 15) are forthcoming albums. Anna Belknap, whose character Lindsay Messer is at the heart of the action in “Unspoken”, was surprised to discover that New York was featuring brand new songs. “When I was reading the script, I didn’t realize it would be the debut of all this music,” the actress told Zap2it. “I was looking on the Internet, and I was like, ‘I can’t find these anywhere!'” (Minor spoilers after the jump!)

“We didn’t have a chance to know what it was going to sound like, but it’s peppered all through the first two acts,” Belknap added. “There’s no dialogue, and it was the biggest challenge for [Executive Producer] Pam [Veasey], who wrote the episode … or didn’t write the episode, as the case may be. She managed to get a lot across with looks and unspoken communication between people.”

The dialogue “kicks in” during the later part of the episode, Belknap explained, but Lindsay does get one line early in the hour. “We’re at a big political rally, and Lindsay’s daughter Lucy (Brooklyn Silzer) wanders off,” she revealed. “Pam said, ‘I couldn’t justify a mom not knowing where her child went and not screaming her name to find her.’ So there is one moment where I say, ‘Lucy!,’ but even that is pretty much drowned out by whatever is happening on the stage at the rally.”

  1. Novel episode, but if I hear one more time that Christine is the best gift that Mac has, while his CSI team has been by his side for the last eight years, I am going to scream

  2. What’s with all the music during the show? Are they changing the show into a musical or can’t the writers come up with ideas and dialog to keep the show interesting? If this keeps up they’ll lose another former fan.
