‘Karma To Burn’ & ‘Reignited’ Official Details

The two remaining members of the franchise will air their season premieres this week, featuring the resolution of a cliffhanger on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and a deadly arsonist on CSI: New York. Official plot details and cast lists can be found after the jump!

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation kicks off season thirteen with “Karma to Burn” on Wednesday at 10:00pm ET/PT:

D.B. Russell’s granddaughter was kidnapped in last season’s finale cliffhanger and now he leads the CSI team on a hunt to find her.

“Karma to Burn” was directed by Alec Smight, who helmed 28 previous episodes of CSI; his most recent credit was for the season twelve finale, “Homecoming”. Co-Producer Christopher Barbour wrote the teleplay with Executive Producer Don McGill, based on a story by Barbour. Barbour has ten writing credits for CSI, and McGill wrote five previous episodes; the most recent credit for both men was “Homecoming”.

Marc Vann and Larry Mitchell are reprising established recurring roles. Peri Gilpin is back as DB’s wife Barbara, who was first seen in “Homecoming”. Also reprising their roles from the finale, Brooke Nevin and Mia Hays return as DB’s daughter Maya and granddaughter Kaitlyn. DB’s son Charlie will be back, played by Brandon W Jones, who was last seen in season twelve’s “Trends With Benefits”. Billy Magnussen, Peter Onorati, and Craig Sheffer were in “Homecoming”; the finale also featured Conor O’Farrell as former Undersheriff Jeffrey McKeen, and Enrique Murciano in his fourth appearance as Detective Carlos Moreno. Lewis T Powell has three previous credits for the series, most recently “CSI Unplugged” from last season. The other actors are new to the franchise.

On Friday, CSI: New York premieres in its new 8:00pm ET/PT timeslot with the first episode of season nine, “Reignited”:

The CSIs investigate when a fire chief – a friend of Mac’s – is killed in a blaze that used the same technique as a recently paroled arsonist.

Director Jeff T Thomas has six previous credits for New York, most recently “Crossroads” from season eight. The premiere was written by Executive Producer Zachary Reiter and Co-Executive Producer John Dove. Reiter penned 26 previous episodes, including last season’s finale, “Near Death”; Dove has 17 writing credits for the series, most recently season eight’s “Unwrapped”.

“Reignited” will feature the following actors and actresses in guest-starring roles:

Megan Dodds returns as Mac’s girlfriend Christine, who was last seen in the season eight finale, “Near Death”. Rob Morrow is making the first of two appearances as convicted arsonist Leonard Brooks. Louis Herthum has previously appeared on CSI (“The List”) and CSI: Miami (“Blown Away”). Scott Subiono was in the CSI episode “Built to Kill, Part 2” during the show’s seventh season. The other actors are new to the franchise.

“Karma to Burn” and “Reignited” begin airing September 26 on CBS.
