La Rue: Guide Dogs Are Heroes

As CSI Files previously reported, CSI: Miami actors Eva La Rue (Natalia Boa Vista) and Omar Miller (Walter Simmons) are working with National Balance Pet Foods this month to raise money and awareness for guide dog schools throughout the United States.

There are 10 million visually impaired people in the US. “Fortunately, guide dogs can help these individuals remain independent,” Miller said. La Rue added, “Guide dogs are heroes, providing safe mobility, loving companionship and restoring confidence to their handlers.” During National Guide Dog Month this September, pet owners can support the cause by purchasing specially marked bags of Natural Balance dog food available at any PETCO store or at select independent retailers. Each purchase donates $1 to participating guide dog schools. PETCO shoppers can also choose to “round up” their purchases at the register and donate the difference, donate directly at the register, or head online to PETCO.com to make a donation.
