‘CSI:NY’ Plans ‘Simple & Respectful’ Tribute To 9/11

1 min read

As CSI Files previously reported, the eighth season of CSI: New York will honor the tenth anniversary of 9/11 in the premiere episode, which airs Friday, September 23 at 9:00pm ET/PT. The premiere will feature a tribute to those who died on that fateful day, and fans will learn where the CSIs were during the attack. (Spoilers after the jump!)

Robert Forster will appear in the season eight premiere as retired fire chief Joe Vincent, who lost a son on September 11th. Joe has been working with Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) for the last four months on a project that is very close to both characters. “We wanted it to be simple and respectful, and I think we accomplished that,” executive producer Zachary Reiter told TV Guide.

Mac won’t be the only character whose past is featured in the episode. The premiere will show when Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo) and Don Flack (Eddie Cahill) first met, as well as giving fans a glimpse at Jo Danville’s (Sela Ward) perspective from Washington, DC. TV Line reports that Adam Ross (AJ Buckley) and Lindsay Messer (Anna Belknap) may not have been in NYC at the time, but they both volunteered in the wake of 9/11. Belknap told TV Line that the premiere “was more emotional than we thought it would be.”
