Harper Encourages Others To Live Big & Dream Big
1 min readActor and author Hill Harper (CSI: New York’s Dr Sheldon Hawkes) visited Indiana University this weekend to give a speech as part of the school’s Black History Month activities.
Harper posted on Twitter that he spoke to a group of 3,000 people. During his speech, he cited a quote from Dr Martin Luther King Jr: “We are all tied together in a garment of a mutual destiny.” If that is true, Harper continued (as reported by the Herald Times), “I should care as much about what you’re doing and whether you’re living your life as big as you can, as … a member of my family.”
“We all have different goals and dreams,” Harper added. “Yet, I believe, they are all connected.” He encouraged his listeners to take risks and move forward with purpose and courage. Each person must be the architect of his or her own life, Harper explained, and living from the heart will help others do the same.
The actor urged the audience to dream big. “True change happens with people who think unreasonably and expansively,” Harper said. “And I’m here to tell you that you have no limit.”
