Ward Was Drawn To The ‘Novelty’ Of Her ‘New York’ Role
1 min readPlaying a former FBI agent and crime scene investigator is an unfamiliar experience for veteran actress Sela Ward (CSI: New York’s Jo Danville). “It’s completely different from anything I’ve ever done before,” Ward told the Star-Telegram. “That was the main attraction.”
The newcomer admitted she doesn’t have “a head for science”. She added, “In school, I didn’t like classes like biology. So playing a character like Jo Danville is a novelty for me. It’s also a little difficult in terms of dialogue and understanding what I’m saying and why, but I’m trying.”
Ward may not be a scientist at heart, but she can connect to other aspects of her character. “Other than the science, most of the things about her are close to a comfort zone for me: her wit and humor and mysteriousness and a little bit of an artistic edge,” the actress explained. “I’m very at home there.”
