‘CSI’ Uses Guest Stars To Draw In Viewers
1 min readThe appearance of teen singing sensation Justin Bieber in this week’s season premiere of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, “Shock Waves”, is part of a trend across television to utilize big name guest stars to keep fans tuning in. “I got this call saying that Justin loves CSI, so is there any chance he could be on the show?” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn explained to TODAY. “He loved the show, he was interested in acting—it just fell into our laps.”
Bieber isn’t the only familiar name set to appear on CSI this season. Elliot Gould and Ann-Margret are also scheduled to guest star on the series. “There’s so much on television to draw the audience away,” Mendelsohn said. “I knew we had to event-ize our episodes this year, to cut through the white noise and get the eyeballs.”
