CBS Supports Haitian Earthquake Relief
1 min readOn Friday, January 22 at 8:00pm ET/PT, CBS will present Hope for Haiti along with ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, The CW, HBO, MTV, VH1, and CMT. The networks will air the global telethon commercial-free in order to raise funds for five organizations currently providing earthquake relief in Haiti following the devastating disaster that took place on Tuesday, January 12. The two-hour telethon will feature musical performances and celebrity appearances, and it will be hosted by George Clooney in Los Angeles, Wyclef Jean in New York City and CNN’s Anderson Cooper from Haiti. The organizations that will receive funding from the event are Oxfam America, Partners in Health, the Red Cross, UNICEF and Yele Haiti Foundation.
Jewelry Designer Raju Rasiah is also helping with disaster relief by auctioning pieces of his jewelry to benefit the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund. Stars such as CSI: Miami actress Eva La Rue (Natalia Boa Vista) will wear the designer’s jewelry to the Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Awards over the next two weeks, and Rasiah will then donate the pieces to raise money through his website.
