Kanakaredes Takes Action Against Alzheimer’s

CSI: New York‘s Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera) is one of the Alzheimer’s Association Champions participating in the “Who Wears Purple Best?” competition going on now through the end of the month. Today, September 21, is World Alzheimer’s Day, and eight celebrities are participating in the friendly competition to increase public awareness of the degenerative disease.

“While I hope to be a favorite in the World Alzheimer’s Day ‘Who Wears Purple Best?’ competition, my goal is for people to learn more about Alzheimer’s and take action,” Kanakaredes said. “People do not realize that Alzheimer’s is not old age. It is a progressive and fatal disease and staggering amounts of people develop Alzheimer’s every day.”

Voting for ‘Who Wears Purple Best?’ will take place at www.alz.org now through Wednesday, September 30. Fans who vote can learn more, become advocates, make donations and spread the word about the purple competition.
