The December episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York drew mostly praise from online critics who celebrated the fall of Nick Stoke's mustache, puzzled over the identity of the Miami mole and enjoyed New York character interaction.

  • MSN.com was impressed by the revelation in "Still Life" of Grissom's father's death in when Grissom was just a child and Catherine's sensitive handling of the case. They seemed pleased by the fact that George Eads shaved his mustache, noting "On the good-news side: The hideous pornstache has been shaved. "CSI" fans rejoice!"

  • Tom Biro at TV Squad was also pleased to see Nick's mustache gone, but he was confused by some of the details of the case:

As far as this case went, I have got to say that I was a bit confused here and there, and hadn't really come up with my own solution on how things would work out. We got a few clues here and there, such as the neighbor to Karen Matthews talking about how he thinks she killed his last dog, and the fact that the jacket Karen gives to the police as having been worn by her son was actually never worn by him. And as far as the solving of the crime goes, seeing that this woman had been so traumatized by the death of her husband in Afghanistan that she actually killed her son to stop him from having to be a military man, and then pretended that he lived there the whole time - for four years - was just out of control. You don't have to wonder why cops hang up their badge & gun after seeing crazy things like this.

  • CBS.com has provided a recap of the episode here.

  • Also at TV Squad, Jonathan Toomey puzzled over the mystery of CSI: Miami's mole, a plotline that was advanced in "Payback":

Just in time for the unmasking of The Carver on Nip/Tuck, CSI: Miami has expanded on a "who-could-it-be" mystery of their own. If you missed the special online only clip from about a month ago, then you were probably caught off guard when Wolfe told Tripp and Natalia that there's a mole in the lab who's been leaking info to the press. Well there is... and Wolfe got the info from Erica (and even though she's caused him problems in the past, seemed like she wanted to do the right thing by letting him know about the mole in that online clip)....So there really is only one question to ask: any idea who the mole is? Right now I'm leaning towards Delko (remember Erica said it was someone well liked and respected... so that gets rid of IAD Det. Stetler). We know Delko is having trouble with his sister's cancer, so maybe he's figured out a new way to raise some extra cash?

  • NancyGail at BlogCritics recapped the New York episode "Jamalot" and was impressed with the scene in which one of the roller derby team members flirts with Mac. "Yippee! The CSI:NY writers agree with me about how good looking Gary Sinise is," she wrote.

  • Though Jonathan Toomey at TV Squad admits in his "Jamalot" review that he's partial to CSI: Miami, he says the episode reminded him why CSI: New York is "still worth catching," though he's not sure why new CSI Lindsay Monroe has gotten so little development.

  • CBS's "Jamalot" recap can be found here.

  • In his review of "Trapped," Toomey goes on to say he thinks New York has improved since the addition of Lindsay, but not because he loves her character:

As I mentioned in one of my other posts a day or two ago, I think this show has gotten a lot better since the removal of Aiden and addition of Lindsay. That doesn't mean I like Lindsay. I don't, she seems way too out of place. But the shuffling has opened it up for Mac, Stella, Danny, and now Doc Hawkes. Last night's episode had the two best cases of the season so far.
