La Rue: ‘I Think I’m Figuring This Whole Thing Out.’

CSI:Miami star Eva La Rue (Natalia Boa Vista) was a little worried about her place of the show last year. “I was afraid I was going to be fired,” she says. “I think they didn’t know what to do with me.”

This season it looks as if La Rue has found her place. The writers have given her character a love life and an abusive ex-husband has resurfaced. Storylines started happening for her at the end of last season when it was discovered that La Rue’s character was a secret government mole.

“I remember reading the script where I found out I was the mole,” she says. “I was drinking my coffee, and I thought, ‘I just lost my job.’ I called my manager because I was so worried.” Producers assured her it would be fine. And it was.

Getting to this place hasn’t been easy for LaRue. She starred on the ABC soap opera All My Children for 12 years. On screen she was paired with her real life husband, John Callahan. When their marriage ended, the 39 year old actress moved back to her native California with her daughter. She had no job and money was tight. Competition for roles is higher in Los Angeles. Then she auditioned for the part of Natalia Boa Vista on Miami and got it. “This whole thing is so daunting,” she says. “But I think I’m figuring this whole thing out.”
