The Insider recently visited the set of CSI: Miami to find out from Adam Rodriguez what's going on with his character Eric Delko.
"What's been happening is I've been buying some marijuana over the course of some episodes," explained the actor. "I get tested for drugs and I pop positive and it sort of leaves me in limbo. We find out it's for a noble reason, taking care of some family business, and it all sort of comes to light by the end of the hour."
The character last night was legally and morally exonerated when viewers found out he's been buying marijuana for medicinal purposes, as his sister has been diagnosed with cancer. Rodriguez said that even though Delko doesn't always make the right choices, his heart is in the right place. "It makes him believable. It gives people something to relate to. We don't always get it right all the time."
"It's pretty powerful stuff," said co-star David Caruso (Horatio Caine), who added that even though Delko's problems affect the entire lab, everything works out in the end. "Nothing is going to destroy this team. No matter what the circumstances, no matter what the situation looks like, we are going to band together, which we do."
