The new season is off to a good start.
The premiere of CSI: Miami's seventh season earned the top spot on Monday with 16.87 million viewers and a 5.1 rating/13 share in the crucial 18-49 demographic. Miami easily beat the second half of a two-hour Heroes premiere, which earned 9.61 million viewers (4.9/12 in 18-49) at 10:00pm, dropping to 9.52 million at the half-hour (4.8/12). Boston Legal's premiere came in last with 9.41 million viewers and 2.4/6. CSI: Miami was up from last season's premiere (14.8 million) and finale (16.07 million).
CSI: New York aired it's fifth season premiere on Wednesday and won the timeslot with 14.59 million viewers and a 4.0/11 in the 18-49 demo. It beat out the second half of a two-hour David Blaine special, which earned 7.13 million viewers and 2.6/7 overall, and Lipstick Jungle, which pulled in 6.25 million viewers and a score of 2.4/6. The ratings for CSI: NY were up significantly from last season's premiere (12.72 million) and finale (11.71 million). New York's lead-in, Criminal Minds, posted the highest numbers for the night with its fourth season premiere at 9:00pm. It had 17.00 million viewers and 4.7/12 in the 18-49 demo.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation won't be premiering until October 9, so it aired a repeat on Thursday at 10:00pm, an hour later than its usual timeslot. It pulled in a second place 9.40 million viewers and a third place 2.6/7 in 18-49 behind the second half of a two-hour season premiere of Grey's Anatomy, which earned 18.28 million viewers (18.35 at the half-hour) and 7.4/18 (7.6/19 at 10:30pm). The premiere of ER's final season came in third in viewers with 7.92 million and second in 18-49 with 3.3/8.
