New Season To See Another Crossover Between 'Miami' & 'NY'

Anthony Zuiker recently announced his plan to pen down a second crossover episode between CSI: Miami and CSI: New York, which should take place this upcoming season.
The first crossover, "MIA/NYC - NonStop," saw Horatio Caine traveling to New York in order to catch a killer, and there he met with an equally workaholic Mac Taylor. The second crossover might be a bit similar. "The actual episode starts out in Miami and finishes two days later in New York," Zuiker said at the WB's Television Critics Association press tour party.
Zuiker also discussed his plans for a brighter season two. Fans should expect the sophomore year of New York to deliver New York storylines done the Big Apple way. Some of the cases planned involve murders at the Bronx Zoo, cuddle parties, debutantes, and a fall from the Empire State Building. It is the writer's attempt to make New York unique, and move past the show's reputation of being too dark.
"[It's] not so much [of] the dungeons that we had last year or the grim storytelling," he said. "We learned those lessons. We were going for an uptown-downtown thing, but what we learned after one season, sitting down with the chairman, is this: New York is multicultural, very diverse. We want to really focus on doing fastball stories that really feel like they're in New York."
Another noticeable change will be the setting of the show. To make New York more radiant the writers decided to let go of the dark dungeons and move the lab someplace brighter. "We are going to be on the 35th floor in midtown Manhattan with all the city in the background," Zuiker announced. "Mac Taylor's office has the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building right through the back of his office. You walk down the hallway, you see the Verrazano [and] Brooklyn Bridge[s] and you're really going to get a sense of shows that only can be shot and told in New York City this year."
