'New York' Comic Book To Be Released In July

CSI novelist and comics writer Max Allan Collins is expected to release his first CSI: New York comic book in July of 2005.

The story, entitled Bloody Murder, will follow the case of a young woman who is slashed to death after dark in a city park. Witnesses recount the details of the attack to Mac and Stella, and the case soon begins to bear a sticking resemblance to a local urban legend. But much to the dismay of the CSIs, the case might turn out to be even more gruesome than the obscure tale.

Collins worked in collaboration with artists J.K. Woodward and Steve Perkins to produce the comic. The writer also promised the look will be much different than that of his other CSI mini-series. "We have a striking, strikingly different look for the CSI: NY mini-series," Collins said. "J.K. captures the cast and the Manhattan ambience perfectly, and Steve picks up the technique we used in the original CSI comics of providing a contrasting style for the forensic re-enactments. It's really gratifying to see my scripts come so effectively to life."

Collins latest CSI project, Binding Ties, was released on April 1st, and the writer is also working on two jigsaw puzzles of New York. While Collins has no plans to pen a New York novel, another writer will take the reigns. Dead of Winter, by Stuart M. Kaminsky, will hit the stores on September 1st, 2005.
