Gary Dourdan: Season 5 Has Been The Hardest

Gary Dourdan (Warrick Brown) was recently intervied at the British BBC Radio, where he talked about the hardest CSI gig to date: season 5.

"Last year was the hardest year. The work was really tough, and it took us to the end of the season to really have a break," Dourdan told Simon Mayo on BBC Radio's Five Live. "The work can be quite extraordinary and we were also going through a lot of politics in the show. We were also going through a lot of changes within the characters and it was a long season, we shot the most of any shows that were shot in any season."

Dourdan admitted to being reluctant about some of the dramatic storylines his character has been given. Eventually, however, he learn to appreciate the opportunity. "I looked around at a lot of other actors, and the ones that I admired and appreciate, and they've all played characters who've had a lot of adversity to deal with, and that's what made it exciting, that's drama, that's what you get in the business for, to play that."

Season 6 is looking lighter than season 5, Dourdan said, especially since Warrick and girlfriend Tina tied the knot. "This year my character has decided to get married, so you'll be seeing some of that. [...] There's a lot of changes with the characters, a lot of little dramas between us, it's not getting like a soap opera, but you know, you need that."

Wherever Warrick's new endeavors might take them, Dourdan is merely glad to be a part of this great project. "I'm really grateful to the writers, who have given me a lot of good dramatic arts to play."
