  • Letters to a Young Sister: DeFINE Your Destiny, the second book from New York star Hill Harper (Dr Sheldon Hawkes), was released on June 3 and debuted in the number five spot in the Hardcover Advice section of the New York Times best-seller list published June 22. The list referenced the week ending with June 7. Letters did not appear on the list for the following week.

  • The top 10 finalists in the drama category for the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards were revealed. The CSI franchise did not make the list.

  • According to Red Orbit, the 2008-2009 season for the CSI franchise will be enhanced by supplementary media. Episodes will be designed to extend the narrative beyond the television screen and into online, mobile and video games.

  • Robert Joy hosted the St John's Comedy Festival Gala in Newfoundland last week. Peter Soucy, the festival's organizer, came on stage wearing scrubs to mimic Joy's character on CSI: NY, Dr Sid Hammerback.

  • Business etiquette expert Barbara Pachter tells women not to take fashion advice from the seductive ladies on shows such as CSI when choosing their work wardrobe. "Sexy is not a corporate look," Patcher told She Knows. Her number one tip for keeping a business wardrobe professional is simple: no cleavage.

  • CSI won an International TV Audience Award at the 48th Monte-Carlo TV Festival in the Drama TV Series category. The awards were judged based on worldwide viewing figures. (Source: IFTN)

  • Former New York actress Claire Forlani (Dr Peyton Driscoll) will appear in the upcoming movie Beer For My Horses starring country singer Toby Keith. "The movie is more of a comedy, a tip of the hat to Burt Reynolds," Keith said in a news conference. "I wanted it be 48 Hours meets Smoky and the Bandit." The story centers around a deputy sheriff from Oklahoma who goes up against a Mexican drug lord and deals with romantic highs and lows. (Source)

  • CSI creator Anthony Zuiker spoke to Furniture World Magazine about the "bumper car process" that occurs when a business changes directions without a strategy when faced with issues such as competition:

    The thing I'm most proud of is that we didn't react to the competition. Some of the other crime shows have added labs and are doing more forensics, and there have been all kinds of knockoffs watering down the market, but we've held true. You need to evolve, but you don't need to evolve defensively. That's a classic mistake.

  • On Entertainment Weekly's list of "The New Classics", the 100 best shows from 1983 to 2008, CSI came in at number 35.

  • CSI character Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) made it onto a different list from Entertainment Weekly: the "25 New Classic Farewells". (Thanks to Best Kept Private on LiveJournal for both EW items.)

  • Chad Lindberg (Chad Willingham) starred as a lab tech during the first season of CSI: NY. The actor is set to appear at the EyeCon Supernatural convention in September. His mullet wearing character on the CW series helped the main characters by using his extensive knowledge of computers.
