Berman Signs On For More 'CSI'

Josh Berman has just signed a deal that will keep him with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation for three more years, and has promoted his title from supervising producer to co-executive producer.

Variety reports that Berman's agreement will keep him with the show through its seventh season. Berman, who has been with CSI since it debuted in 2000, has penned episodes such as "Pledging Mr. Johnson" (with CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker), "Blood Lust" (with executive producer Carol Mendelsohn), and this season's "Turning of the Screws".

Berman will become the ninth executive producer on the original CSI. He joins Zuiker, Mendelsohn, and Jerry Bruckheimer, Ann Donahue, Jonathan Littman, Danny Cannon, Cynthia Chvatal and William Petersen in the executive producer position.

Before coming to CSI, Berman worked at NBC as a program executive. In his job there, he oversaw both development of new shows, and promotion of current ones. However, he soon found he wanted to write more than anything else. "I couldn't sleep at night unless I'd written a couple of pages," he commented. "I'd come home and write from midnight to five."
