Procter's 'Big Momma's House 2' Opens To Lukewarm Reviews

The movie Big Momma's House 2, starring Miami's Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) opened in theatres across the US today.
The movie, which stars Martin Lawrence is the continuation of the first film, Big Momma's House, in which an FBI agent goes undercover and dresses up as an old woman to protect citizens. In the second film, Lawrence's character dresses up as Big Momma once more to work undercover as the nanny for a woman (Procter) whose husband is up to no good.
"It's basically a sequel," Procter explained. "I'm a harried mother of three and looking for help in the house. And they suspect my husband is leaking information from the government. So Big Mama comes in, Martin, to take the job. But then, to watch the husband. And I have to say, we had the best time. I loved it."
The movie, unfortunately, has failed to get on the critic's good side. While Big Momma contains a few funny moments, some say it failed to deliver the big laughs. "BMH2 is a harmless, genial outing, a comedy that is amusing without ever rising to the level of funny. You sit through the film with a smile on your face, waiting for the laughs that never come," said the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"It's a one-joke character in a one-joke movie," said Christy Lemire of the Beacon Journal. "But while Lawrence is in disguise, he manages to be grotesque and vaguely endearing at the same time, to make you squirm and occasionally laugh in spite of yourself."
Big Momma's House 2 is now in theatres across America. Visit Yahoo Movies to see a video of Procter at the premiere, talking about her dress.
