CBS Considers Third 'CSI' Spinoff

As CBS considers a third spinoff of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NBC ponders the possibility of a fourth Law & Order show.

According to Zap2It CBS head Les Moonves mentioned that CBS is strongly considering a third CSI show. Four cities are being considered as possible locations for the new spinoff, including New York, which is the home of Law & Order and its spinoffs.

If New York is chosen as the setting for the new CSI show, it still might be filmed in California. Though set in Las Vegas and Miami respectively, most of the filming for CSI and CSI: Miami is done in Los Angeles. Law & Order and its spinoffs are filmed primarily in New York.

Law & Order might also be getting a new incarnation as well, though NBC president Jeff Zucker says that the network looks at each L&O show as a separate entity. "We really see these as three distinct cop shows, all bound by the same title and the same music," Zucker said.

If greenlighted, both the new CSI and L&O shows could be on the air as early as Fall 2004.
