Cahill: 'NY' Cast Expertise Taught Him Good Work Ethics

Eddie Cahill (Det. Don Flack) told CBS the most important thing he's learned while on the set of CSI: New York.
"Working with such a great cast you learn the benefits and the importance of an incredible work ethic, that I've seen in Gary [Sinise] and Melina [Kanakaredes] and everybody else I work with," the actor said. "Everybody is such an absolute professional and has enough experience that the more they put in, their preparation, the more fluid things move within the storylines, within chemistry between all of us."
Cahill's Don Flack is one of the most constant characters on the show, but the actor revealed he enjoyed seeing Flack's true colors come to light in his favorite episode, "The Fall." "Where I saw Flack develop most prominently was in episode 17, where he had to basically take down the guy who was his mentor," the actor said. "We started the season with who Don was with suspects, the way he behaved, being a bit of a quick tempered guy, highly sarcastic. And down the line in episode 17 we saw a side of Don Flack that really brought to light his loyalty."
Cahill has developed a great expertise in both drama and comedy, but the actor revealed he still can't choose between one or the other. "At this point I really haven't developed a preference to either comedy or drama. What I like about comedy is it, in certain respects, it forces you to make very specific choices. A lot of times in comedy those bits have to be hit with purpose, and I think that's been a great training ground for some of the dramatic acting I've done. I like them both equally."
