Szmanda & Hall: Every Actor Plays An Important Role

Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders) recently told CBS he's happy with his character's long journey from the lab to the field.

"I was pretty lucky with the last season, going through the whole process of becoming an investigator," the actor told the website. "So I'm just excited to start off this season officially as an investigator and kinda just grow from here. I don't know what really lies in store yet, but I'm sure it'll be good."

Szmanda admitted he's enjoying providing the audience with a "fresh look" into crime scene investigation, but if there's something he doesn't plan to lose about the old Greg is his sense of humor. "It's been nice to kind of serve the purpose of bringing some kind of comic relief to the show and I plan on continuing that even as I go from the lab out to the field."

CBS also interviewed Robert David Hall (Dr. Al Robbins), who explained why he thinks the producers liked him for the show. "I think it was a combination of things. I seem to have the ability to spout some of this medical mumbo-jumbo pretty well. I think I look like a character that might be a medical examiner, and I think I have a particular relationship with other people in the cast that works well, there was a balance."

Hall is involved with various organizations that are currently persuading Hollywood to increase the number of disabled characters on television. For him, it's also a personal crusade. "I'd like to see more qualified actors with disabilities on TV and film, because unless you see yourself in our media you don't really get expectations of being a lawyer, a doctor, a judge. Every group in this country wants to see itself portrayed honestly and positively in the media, and since I'm a person with a disability that's my particular thing."
