Corey Miller Updates His Blog

After five months, blog readers will be delighted to learn of the return of Corey Miller.
The CSI:Miami writers returned from hiatus on June 5th and have been working like crazy ever since. They are currently shooting episode seven, prepping episode eight, and have the stories up to episode ten. While Miller isn’t fond of providing spoilers, he does say that Eva La Rue and Rex Linn have been added to the cast as regulars.
With respect to doing the blog this year, Miller isn’t sure there is much more he can say on a weekly basis that would justify taking up space on the internet. This year a more varied approach to the entries will be taken.
In the September 18 blog entry, writer / co-executive producer Sunil Nayar shares his experience with the season premiere “Rio.” Nayar is the only member of the writing staff who is unmarried and doesn’t have a significant other or children. In the case of the season opener, this worked to his advantage. His unrestricted free time enabled him to scout locations in Rio and then return in July.
Nayar describes how the story for “Rio” was written around the location itself, as opposed to shooting in Los Angeles where the locations are selected according to the needs of the script. In Rio, they knew the shoot would only last for three days and traffic restricted them to maybe two locations a day. Plus, it was winter in Brazil, meaning the days were short and daylight was a factor. Therefore, in order to best utilize everything Rio had to offer, the story was written around the location.
