  • CSI: New York actor Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer) will be featured on the December 24 episode of Extra as one of "America's Most Eligible" bachelors. Giovinazzo said, "Someone that is sweet, someone who is smart, somebody who is different" would get his attention. He described his ideal date as "sitting [and] looking at the water, taking a walk. Anything. Going to a batting range." For more, tune in to Extra December 24. Thanks to Abby from Carmine Online for sharing the information, and thanks to TalkCSI's own PerfectAnomaly for bringing it to our attention.

  • Giovinazzo was also the subject of the "Reader's Cheer of the Week" on TVGuide.com. Ticamo spoke about Giovinazzo's performance in the latest episode of New York, "Child's Play":

Cheers to Carmine Giovinazzo for pulling out yet another stellar performance on CSI: NY. Give this man an Emmy nomination already! His portrayal of Danny Messer in the Dec. 12 episode was heartbreaking and moving. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his wonderful acting, which proves he is much more than one of TV Guide's Sexiest Men on TV. He’s an amazing actor.

  • As CSI Files reported earlier this month, the CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit tested positive for asbestos according to the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO). Tests run by Planet Toys did not find asbestos in kits from the same lot as the ones that were tested by the ADAO. Playthings.com posted the following from a statement made to CNN in which CBS Broadcasting said:

We take these issues very seriously, which is why we and Planet Toys have agreed to meet with representatives of the ADAO this week to compare the results of all of our tests. As an added precaution, we have asked Planet Toys to pull the kits from the shelves until we are all in agreement with the testing, and most importantly, the product's safety

  • As the Writers Guild of America (WGA) continues to strike, KNBC in Los Angeles reported that "below-the-line" workers like electricians, carpenters and employees of prop houses are being hit hard. At this point, nearly 40,000 of these types of workers have been laid off. TV set dresser David Potter described the toll that the strike is having, saying that "the guy that sweeps the floor, the laborers that pick up the trash and stuff, the guys that live from paycheck to paycheck, they are the ones that are really starting to hurt." The workers have been losing paychecks as well as the working hours that they need to remain eligible for union health insurance and pension coverage. "End the strike now, please, for everybody's sake," said Jim Elyea, a worker from the prop house History For Hire. "Just end it all."

  • Jonathan Storm from The Philadelphia Inquirer gave his list of the top ten "Hot and Cold" television moments from 2007. At number six, Storm said that "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation again demonstrated that it takes more than blood and guts to produce one of history's most dominant TV shows."
