Vanessa Ferlito today revealed the name of her CSI: New York alter ego.
"Her name is Abigail Martin, but I don't know if they're gonna change that. She's one of four or five CSIs," Ferlito told TV Guide's Michael Ausiello. The actress, who had a recurring role on 24 this season, said she didn't even have to audition for the role. "It's amazing. I read for [executive producer Anthony Zuiker] once, but not even for the role I got. It was for a different role, an older CSI named Stella."
Stella Bonasera will be played by Melina Kanakaredes (Providence), with Apollo 13's Gary Sinise heading the cast as Rick Calucci. Ferlito couldn't be happier to be sharing the screen with the Emmy-winning actor. "That's what inspires me — working with people like that. He's amazing."
In an ironic turn of events, the New York born-and-bred actress will have to move to Los Angeles to star in the Big Apple CSI. "It's gonna be hard, I'll be honest with you. There's nothing like New York," Ferlito said.
Ferlito and the rest of the CSI: New York team will make their debut in an episode of CSI: Miami set to air in May. The complete interview can be found here at TV Guide.
