Official Details For Next Week's 'Miami' & 'New York'

For the first time in several weeks, CSI fans won't be able to watch three new episodes this week, as on Thursday the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation will be airing a repeat. But CBS still promises a lot of excitement with the franchise's two spin-off shows.

First up on Monday will be the sixth CSI: Miami episode of the season, "Under Suspicion." Here's what you can expect from this episode:

The CSIs must race against time when all evidence in a murder case points to Horatio. When a murdered woman is discovered, Horatio admits that he was seeing her and that he was the last person to see her alive. Although the evidence logically points to Horatio as the killer, our CSIs must now dig deeper to find the real killer and learn who would have the motive and the method to frame him.

"Under Suspicion" director Sam Hill is a newcomer to the CSI franchise. Several Sam Hills are listed in the Internet Movie Database, but presumably he is the same Hill who has worked as assistant director on British crime shows such as Dalziel and Pascoe and Inspector Linley, as well as movies such as The Sweetest Thing and The New Guy. The episode was written by Sunil Nayar ("Vengeance") and Barry O'Brien ("Prey").

The following actors will be making a guest appearance on "Under Suspicion:"

  • Rex Linn as Det. Frank Tripp
  • Lauren C. Mayhew as Stephanie
  • Shani Pride as Lisa
  • Kimberly Page as Rachel Turner
  • David Lee Smith as Rick Stetler
  • Boti Bliss as Valera
  • Patrick Fischler as Vince Nolan
  • Eric Steinberg as Daniel Vance
  • Alexandra Lydon as Jennifer Wilson
  • Haley Ramm as 9-Year-Old Jennifer
  • Greg Dohanic as Foster
  • Mailon Rivera as Det. Matt Phillips
  • Damian Young as Walter Dresden
  • Jeremiah W. Birkett as Johnny
  • Tai Reid as Father
  • Richard Varga as State Attorney
  • William Allen Young as Judge Ratner
Rex Linn, David Lee Smith, Boti Bliss, Patrick Fischler, Greg Dohanic, and William Allen Young are all playing previously established characters -- Allen Young's Judge Ratner was seen once before, in last season's "After the Fall." Three other guest actors have a previous connection to the CSI franchise: Lauren C. Mayhew played Candace Underwood last year on the original CSI's "4x4;" Alexandra Lyon was Susan Hemmington in "Iced," also an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's fifth season; and young Haley Ramm played Emily in the fourth-season original CSI episode "Turn of the Screws."

On Wednesday at 10:00pm, CBS is scheduled to air the new CSI: New York episode "Dancing with the Fishes." The network issued the following episode synopsis:

Mac, Stella and Det. Flack investigate the death of a young dancer who seems to fall from the sky and crashes into a car near the Queensboro Bridge. The team learns that the young dancer was enrolled in a famous dance school and her fellow competitors seem the most likely suspects. Meanwhile, when a local fish merchant’s body is found, Danny and Dr. Hawkes trace him back to the recently relocated Fulton Fish Market where they discover that he was impaled by a swordfish. Their investigation leads them to a high-priced Manhattan private school where parents will pay any price to get their children enrolled. Also, Lindsay examines the death of a Roosevelt Island Tram driver found dead on board by early morning commuters.

Just like CSI: Miami, this week's CSI: New York instalment is directed by a newcomer to the franchise: John Peters. Peters is already somewhat familiar with the show's visual style, as he is one of the cinematographers of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation companion show Without A Trace, of which he also already directed an episode. Screenwriter Eli Talbert has previously worked on episodes such as "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and "Crime and Misdemeanor."

Below is a list of "Dancing with the Fishes" guest stars:

  • Robert Joy as Dr. Sid Hammerback
  • Barbara Tarbuck as Vivian Claven
  • Chris Ellis as Vincent Williams
  • Rhys Coiro as Razor
  • Nick Paonessa as Richard Daly
  • Maxine Bahns as Anna
  • Chastity Dotson as Tera Grace
  • Kevin Fry-Bowers as McShea
  • Julia Rose as Laura Bayliss
  • Ron Lester as Officer Murphy
  • Sarah M. Scott as Shayna
  • Mekia Cox as Kia Rowe
  • Michael Petrone as Fred Bayliss
  • James Tupper as Paul Zernecky
  • Austin Highsmith as Rebecca Zernecky

Robert Joy begins his recurring stint as Dr. Sid Hammerback with this episode. Two other actors have made previous appearances on one of the CSI shows. Rhys Coiro played Diablo in this year's CSI: Miami season premiere, "From the Grave," and Kevin Fry played Carl Mercer in the Miami second-season finale, "Innocent."

On Thursday at 9:00pm, CBS will be showing the first CSI: Crime Scene Investigation repeat since the start of the new season; namely last year's "Spark of Life." In this episode, Grissom discovers a connection between the fiery suicide of a woman in the Vegas wilderness and the slaughter of an entire family in a suburban home. The evidence exposes a couple's infidelity, as well as the unthinkable results of one woman's desperate attempt to get pregnant.

CBS will be showing a second CSI repeat on Saturday at 8:00pm, when CSI: New York's "Crime and Misdemeanor" is airing in the CrimeTime Saturday block. In this episode, when the body of a young woman is discovered at a laundry facility, the bed sheets she is wrapped in lead Mac and Stella back to an upscale New York hotel that houses diplomats from around the world when the United Nations is in special session. Meanwhile, Danny and Aiden investigate the death of a homeless man found dressed as a human statue. By all accounts, the prank is deemed a misdemeanor, but Danny decides to delve further and his refusal to stop the investigation puts him at odds with Mac.
