Marg Helgenberger: Grim 'CSI' Episodes Like A Car Wreck

Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) told USA Today that as controversial as the the grisliest episodes of CSI are, people can't get enough of them.

"Sometimes I think they're definitely pushing the envelope," the actress said. "But those, ironically, are the episodes that tend to get the highest viewers. So what does that tell you about American society? They're like a car wreck, I guess -- they can't take their eyes off of it."

It's no wonder CSI gets twisted so often. Earlier this month, "Pirates Of The Third Reich" took viewers into the world of a twisted doctor who used healthy, innocent people as test bunnies, and coming soon viewers should expect another trip into the dark side of the human mind. "The one we're still working on is another sordid tale involving a man who is a foot fetishist," the actress explained.

Helgenberger referred to "I Like To Watch," which should air some time during March. "Apparently, there are many foot fetishists. Oh, and within the show it's like an episode of Cops -- we have a video crew following us around. So we're shooting on video, and that's kind of interesting."

But fans aren't the only ones attracted to these episodes or the show in general. Helgenberger revealed her favorite Thursday night pastime. "When I'm not working, I try to see the show," she said. "So much happens in post-production in the making of CSI, with all the special effects. It's like watching a whole other show than what you've read and/or what you've shot. I haven't seen every episode, but I try to."
