Undertakers left crime scene investigators for dead at the 2004 Screen Actors Guild Awards last night.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation lost the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series category to Six Feet Under, according to the Hollywood Reporter. This was the second time in a row the category had been won by HBO's funeral home saga.

It was the third time unlucky for the CSI cast, who lost out to The West Wing on their first nomination in 2002. All regular cast members were nominated as part of the ensemble award: Gary Dourdan (Warrick Brown), George Eads (Nick Stokes), Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle), Paul Guilfoyle (Jim Brass), Robert David Hall (Al Robbins), Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows), William Petersen (Gil Grissom) and Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders).

Fellow member of the Jerry Bruckheimer crime cohort, Without a Trace, received two nominations, for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for star Anthony LaPaglia. The series went home empty-handed in both categories, with LaPaglia losing out to 24's Kiefer Sutherland.
